 | I am in the middle of a 'big think’ about the future strategy of Events Development in Cumbria. Part of my present role is to research and fundraise for future funding to continue the Events Development Project from next year onwards. |
During my research I stumbled across this interesting article in the BBC website archive by economist Evan Davis. It encouraged me to think about how we can measure the benefits of festivals and shows on the local economy and to the local community.
There are many good examples in Cumbria of festivals and events sourcing their suppliers and services locally but it is by no means universal. One of the things I would like to do if we are successful in securing funding to continue the Events Development Fund is to promote and encourage the use of local Cumbrian services and suppliers to festivals and events.
If you have any views on this or have any stories about your festival’s experience of using local suppliers then please let me know as I would like to explore this in future newsletters.
